1. Introduction

Welcome to the first issue of The Link Supplement. As you will have read in the Spring Edition of The Link, it is the Parish Council's intention to produce this Supplement four times a year to keep you up to date with all the local news.
The next Link Supplement will be issued in July. If you have any news you would like included please contact me, The Editor, on 395925.

2. Annual Vestry Meeting.

At this meeting, held on the 19th April 1998, Mr Ray Lee was elected People's Warden in place of Stan Cotton, who no longer lives in the parish. Ray Lee lives at 93 Henley Road. Mrs Marjorie Harris continues as Vicar's Warden. A fuller report of this meeting will appear in the next 'Link'.



3. AGM of Parish Council / Annual Parish Meeting.

The AGM of the Parish Council will be held at 7:00pm on Monday 11th May in Sandford Village Hall. This meeting will include the election of Council Officers. This AGM will be followed at 8.00pm by the Annual Parish Meeting at which reports will be given by the Parish Council Chairperson and the District Councillor. Opportunity will exist at this meeting for villagers to raise any issues regarding Sandford and it is hoped that many of you will be able to attend.



4. Election of Parish Councillor.

l am pleased to advise you that the vacancy for a Parish Councillor has now been filled by Ray James. Ray has lived in Sandford since October 1996 and looks forward to getting involved in the local community. He can be contacted on 395925.



5. Vacancy for Parish Council Clerk.

Due to personal circumstances, Carole Leary has resigned as Parish Clerk. with effect from April 30th. The Council would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank Carole for her work during her time as secretary.

The Subsequent vacancy was advertised in the Oxford Times on 17th April and will hopefully be filled soon.



6. St Andrews Church News.

WHITSUN SERVICES on Sunday 31st May are as follows:-
10:00 am Parish Communion
11:15 am All Age Service - an opportunity for villagers of all ages to joint together in prayers and thanksgiving.
Details were in the last 'Link'. There will be no Sunday Club for juniors at 10:00am on this day as they will be part of the wider service.



7. Other News.

a) New Bus Service. Good news for bus users. Thanks to the introduction of a new service by The Oxford Bus Company (service 16b), Sandford now has a full bus service seven days a week during the day and evening.

The single fare is £1.05 and the return is £1.50. Tickets are not interchangeable between the 105 and 16b services.

b) Bus Tokens. The next issue of bus tokens will take place on Saturday 27th June between 9:00am and 12noon at 75 Henley Road. The value of these for the coming year will be £25

c) Skip. I am advised by S.O.D.C. that a skip will be provided on Tuesday June 2nd and will be located at the Village Hall car park. The skip should arrive some time after 4:00pm on Monday and will be collected on Wednesday. In the future skips will no longer be located at Oxford Park Homes.

d) Diary Date Reminders. The Sandford River Run is taking place on Saturday 20th June at 5:00pm. The Parish fete and Flowers Festival well be held one the weekend of the 27th/28th June.

e) Grass Mowing. The Highways Department of the County Council are responsible for the mowing of the grass verges. The Parish Council has decided that at minimal cost to themselves they will supplement this service with additional mowing throughout the village.
