SANDFORD-ON-THAMES COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION NEWSLETTER

ISSUE 8JUNE

ASSOCIATION REPORT

A very brief report this month.

A meeting of the Community Association is to be held on Tuesday 31st May at 7pm. At this meeting it will be proposed that the Association be dissolved. Instead consideration will be given to forming a group who's aim will be to provide social entertainment for those villagers who wish to be involved in such.
Unfortunately, insufficient support for the Summer Fair means that the event will not take place this year. If you are interested in improving the social aspects of the village or strongly object to the decision to close down the Community Association then please come along to the meeting.

TUESDAY 31st MAY at 7.30pm
The classroom at the rear of the Manor House
Thankyou.
Carl Reynolds. Chairman.

PARISH COUNCIL NEWS

STREET LIGHTING

The replacement of the concrete columns and additional street lighting is to be provided during the summer and should be fully operational by the autumn. A copy of the plan detailing the position of the additional columns is displayed on the Parish Council Notice Board.

GRASS CUTTING AND VILLAGE MAINTENANCE

The Parish Council has purchased a tractor mower and a strimmer and Mr. Tim James has volunteered to cut the grass in the recreation field and on the Wharf on a regular basis. We also plan to provide some seating on the Wharf and hope that villagers will make use of what we hope will be a pleasant area during the summer months.

Our thanks to Tim and his helpers.

PARISH SKIP

The next parish skip will be situated at River View from Wednesday, 29th June for one week.

GYPSIES

Please support our campaign to have the gypsies removed from the grass verge on the A423 and a permanent barrier erected by signing the petition and writing personally to the County Council.

DATE OF NEXT MEETING

The next Parish Council will be held on Monday, 20th June at 7 pm in the Village Hall.
