The tragic death of Little Jamie has shocked us all and we send all our sympathy to Yvonne and Stewart (Sam), Hazel and Bob Hutton, Bill Davenport and all his family and also Mrs. Crawford and her family.
We hope all goes well as they look forward to the new baby coming.
Within the next week a bank account will be opened into which the rates will be paid and withheld and there will be names of people who you will be able to pay your rates to, they will in turn bank it into the account on your behalf. During the course of the next few days, a letter will be circulated to everyone in the village giving full details of proposals.
REMEMBER THIS IS YOUR VILLAGE, YOUR CHILDREN. LETS ALL STAND TOGETHER AND BE COUNTED.
Remember we are not a rabble and the nuisance is outside everyones front door this time.
Our requests to South Oxfordshire District Council are very simple,
concise and plain common Sense. It is proposed to give South Oxfordshire
District Council to July 31st to carry out our demands or further
demonstrations will be planned at the South Oxfordshire District Council
offices in Wallingford.
1) Ten Acres be turned into a model site.
2) A full-time warden be placed on the front of the site.
3) Trouble makers evicted.
4) Scrap cleared from gardens and area tidied.
5) Anyone with an eviction order or notice to quit must be turned off immediately.
6) No scrap must leave vehicles in the vicinity of Sandford and that no one lights a fire burning toxic rubbish or rubbish likely to cause an offence to near neighbours.
7) A waiting list for sites - no queue jumping or offenders be evicted.
8) 16 pitches with 16 individual units with one family per unit.
9) Dogs must be kept under control and not run loose.
10) Fire hose must be kept for fires only, not laid out on roads, or used for cleaning vans or vehicles, not used as showers in hot weather - which was observed on occasions last summer.
This ten point demand for Ten Acres are just a few of the rules that
Kiln Mobile Home Park observe without question, and civilized people
would consider most reasonable.
At the meeting held on Friday 27th April, an offending fire was lit and two of the most reliable witnesses in the village went to Ten Acres saw the person who lit the fire and took a name.
Thanks to Mrs. Agulnik, she forced this individual to put out the fire.
Well done Mrs. Agulnik.

As most of you now know Mr. Heery has retired as caretaker of the Village Hall and Mrs. Heery as booking clerk. We are very grateful to them for their long and faithful service. We welcome Mr. Strange as our new caretaker, and Mrs. M. Harris as booking clerk.
Planning Applications for planning permission will now be posted on the village notice board. Anyone interested in seeing plans can arrange to see them at Mrs. Heery's home, 73 Henley Road.
Development of the Mill Site should go ahead as soon as improvements have been made to the flood plain.
Cumberland Estates now has permission to develop small industrial units on the old Brick Kiln site. Temple Farm has permission for 58 temporary caravan stands in the summer months only. Permission for this number is dependent on the improvement of access from Henley Road.
Litter. Help from many inhabitants of Sandford had made a welcome improvement to the appearance of the village, but this is only temporary. Litter is again building up at the bottom of Church Road, and the road leading to Kiln Park and 10 Acres is quite unspeakable. The Parish Council will be advertising for a village caretaker to help keep Sandford tidier during the summer months.
Mrs. King gave an interesting position of work being done in the South Oxfordshire District area as a whole. She also commented on planning in Sandford and the improvements carried out on the council houses in Henley Road. Like the rest of us, and the inhabitants of Ten Acre Site and Kiln Park in particular, she is totally disheartened by the state of the road leading to these sites and the verges. She has worked extremely hard to improve matters, but at present they are as bad as ever.
When Mr. & Mrs. Gilbert are coming on Ten Acre Site it
should be easier to control any illegal fires or other activities which
go on there, but itinerants parking outside can only be removed by legal
action by The Water Authority. Miss Burra undertook to write to
Thames Water Authority in the hope that they would speed up their plan
to plant trees in concrete surrounds to prevent illegal parking. The
"temporary" collection of Skips and rubbish is as unsightly as gypsies
rubbish.
We are extremely grateful to Mrs. King for all the work she does on
our behalf.
