Whenever I have considered it necessary, I have used the DEMOCRATICALLY ACCEPTED PRINCIPLE. THE RIGHT OF REPLY, under the heading of FAIR COMMENT.
Any reader of the Sandford Link also has this right, if they so wish. It is your paper.
The teachers (theoretical) end of term report also adds, that I have been a naughty boy in class, because....... I hoped peoples memories DO NOT FAIL THEM, when the time comes.
Looking at the list of items reported, it is clearly evident that our reader, Mr. Boyd has not been receiving his copy of Sandford Link regularly enough.
As Mr. Churchill said in one of his famous speeches to the Germans in the last "SOME CHICKEN", A. Robinsons reply to our reader...... "SOME SOAP BOX".

DISTRICT & PARISH COUNCIL RESULTS, 5th. May

At the time of writing this article,it is doubtful if 50 people out of an electorate of 500 on the Sandford register of electors, could quote the figures for the Parish Council election for Sandford on Thames held on the above date.
Below are the figures as taken at the official count which was held at Clifton Hampden school. Of the nine candidates for Sandford, only TWO were interested or enthusiastic enough to attend the counting of your votes, they were Mrs. Hutton, and "you know who" ...... A. Robinson.
The District Council election votes were counted first, and were as follows:- Mr. Beech, S.D.P. 224. Mrs. King Con. 624. spoilt papers 6. Total Poll 854. (six villages).

Figures for the Parish Council election were:- Mrs. Agulnik, 166. Mrs. Hutton, 131. Mrs. Rolston, 129. Miss. Burra, 122. Mr. Hutchinson, 111. Mrs. Shepherd, 105. Mr. Norton, 96. Mr. Robinson, 81. Mr. Kennery, 74. There were spoilt papers, 3 of which were blank, and one with 9 crosses, instead of 7. At the end of the count A. Robinson congratulated Mrs. King the Conservative candidate on more than doubling the vote. Mrs. King thanked the returning officer and his staff in carrying out the count with efficiency. The loosing candidate then went home to fight again another day, NO POLITICS OF COURSE.

READERS LETTER
From "ELBE" Removals
The Old school Hall,
Perrin St, Headington.

Dear Sir,
This letter is to confirm the telephone conversation concerning the 'EDITORSHIP' of the Sandford Link!
As you stated in the 'Sandford Link':- 'the first person to knock on my door and to take on this interesting news sheet, can do so with pleasure'.
I am perfectly willing to take on the editorship of the 'Sandford Link', whenever you wish to tender your resignation to the Parish Council.
My personal feelings on the 'Sandford Link' is that it should be completely unbiased and should not be a SOAP BOX for the editors point of view. Furthermore, I feel it should contain what is happening in the village, i.e. playgroups, youth club, church, and true reporting of Parish Council meetings, etc.
Unfortunately, you seem to have some idea that I am not on the 'Local Electoral Roll', let me assure you that I am on the Roll and have been for the last five years; also I have never missed voting in any elections which have taken place in Sandford,
If you wish to see me at any point, please do not hesitate to contact MY office, where one of MY staff will make a convenient appointment for us to meet. I am normally at home after 6.00 pm, Telephone 770872.
One point I would like to raise, is that I was unable to attend the Parish Meeting due to a prior commitment.
I am sending a copy of my letter to the Parish Council, for discussion, at their next meeting.

            Yours faithfully,
L N Boyd.
Proprietor Mr. L N Boyd     V A T Reg. No 348/737124

Dear Readers,
as you can see from the above letter (printed in full) someone wants my spare time job, Mr, Boyd already has a full time job in his own business of REMOVALS, true I made the offer to anyone wanting to take on COMPILING, I have never claimed to be an editor of a A/4 size newsletter, it dose not warrant such a title, and I have never used it,
You will see from the front Page what Mr. Boyd calls SOAP BOX writing, and I hope you will make up your mind after Mr. Boyd becomes the COMPILER of 'Sandford Link'. I only hope that Mr. Boyd will print my observations in full, when he will no doubt call himself the EDITOR. Finally, may I plead, IS THERE NO ONE ELSE IN SANDFORD WHO CAN WRITE.? Yours faithfully, Alfred Robinson.
