JUNIOR FOOTBALL Ages 10 to 14 year old's
The road to the famous Wembley Stadium starts here.
Mr. C. D. Coles (Doug) has recently moved into the village, and is running football training sessions. Any boys between 10 to 14 years old who are interested should be on the recreation ground at 11 a.m. SATURDAY MORNINGS.

SANDFORD KEEP FIT CLUB The club continues to thrive - new members will be welcome at the start of the next term on Tuesday Feb. 15th.
The term lasts for 3 months and classes are held in the Village Hall on Tuesdays from 8pm to 9-30 p.m. the term of 3 months costs �4. Phone 777213 for details.

WELL DONE BOYS Andrew Hutton, Anthony Norton, and Roy Whitaker.
From their collecting of �7-50 by carol singing, the boys were able to make a gift to the Old Peoples "Orchard House" in Sandford, consisting of Fruit, and a large box of chocolates.
A letter of thanks signed by Mr. Sean Easton, head of Orchard House has been received, hoping that the boys got what they wanted for Xmas also.

RUBBISH

DO Sandford residents REALLY care? Yes, those living in the Kiln Caravan Park do, and would like to see this rubbish removed.
We are surrounded by it, and promises have been made that it WOULD be removed, but nothing comes of it.
Maybe people dont know that Sandford village extends beyond the Oxford sewage works and includes the site for travelling gypsies known as TEN ACRE CARAVAN PARK.
They are invited to take a look around this site, and then ask themselves if they would tolerate this disgraceful eyesore in the middle of Sandford, perhaps then they will do something to protect what little bit of countryside we have left.

Also, as reported in the two previous issues of this newsheet, a site warden now lives on the site, we have yet to see the benefit from his presence, at a cost of over �100 per week of ratepayers money.
Nikky King has been trying to get something done on our behalf. We wish to give notice to S.O.D.C. that if nothing is done about the illegal parking over the footpaths, and the rubbish removed, a public meeting will be called, for the purpose of withholding all rates payable to that Council, and hope that other ratepayers will support this action should it be necessary.

COUNCIL HOUSE RENTS
We are informed by the TREASURER of S.O.D.C. that one reason for the increase in Council house rents, likely to average �1 a week - is to compensate for LOWER income to the Council - BECAUSE IT HAS SOLD SO MANY COUNCIL HOUSES. (This surely is one good, sound, reason for NOT selling Council Houses.)
This increase if implemented will give the Council a SURPLUS OF �1 million in 1983/84, for housing revenue. (And as in the two previous years half of this will be transferred to the GENERAL RATE FUND, having been paid for by COUNCIL HOUSE TENANTS).
The HOUSING OFFICER'S report shows how the rent increases will affect tenants. A 3 bedroom house the fortnightly rent will be increased from �35-34. to �37-33, or �36-39 according to the type of house. S.O.D.C. has more than 8,000 council houses, it has sold 1,203.

(The conclusion that anyone can draw from this, is the more houses sold so the yearly increase in council house rents will continue, and as shown above they have 8,000 to get rid of).
