PROGRESS.
At the time of writing, work is in process at these sites in the village. Extension to car park & Village Hall. The footbridge at the Kings Arms P.H. and at Ten Acre Caravan site by S.O.D.C.



TREES DONATED
Mrs. M. Hurst has donated a cherry tree in memory of her husband Dr. H. E. Hurst, which was planted by Miss. E. Burra as reported In the May issue Sandford Link, a tree has also been donated to the memory of Mr.(Curly) Cecil Stone, also mentioned in May issue. We are very grateful for these donations to beautify Sandford.



Next meeting of Sandford Parish Council will be on 21st June

PARISH COUNCIL.
The vacancy on the Parish Council, left by the resignation of Mr. M. Hobbs, was filled by the co-option of Mrs. Janet E. Shepherd of 20 Kiln Close, Kiln Caravan Park. The full council of 7 members are due for re-election in May 1983.



Sandford clean up.
On Sat. 12th. June from 2-50. to 4-30 pm. PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN, plastic sacks from Village Hall, drinks available for the helpers. See how much rubbish YOU can collect. there will be a skip container at the corner of Church Rd. available for all general and domestic large items for disposal in the village, make use of it while it is available, there is also one at Kiln Park site.



Smell nuisance.
The South Oxfordshire Dist. Councillor for Clifton Hampden, Culham, Marsh Baldon, Toot Baldon, Nuneham Courtney, and Sandford-on-Thames, (full title) Mrs. Nicola Ann King recently elected, has been in contact with Sandford sewage works concerning the complaint of the strong smell recently.

Mrs. King was informed that it was due to modifications to the works which are in progress at present, and stated that the problem is only temporary until they have been completed, the smell will get less within the next month (June). Apologies were expressed for any inconvenience caused.





S.O.D.C. Bye-Election of 29th April.
Perchance you do not have the local Mail or Times newspapers, that is why I am including these figures and other details. The election was for one seat representing the six parishes as named in the above article, the result was for Mrs. Nicola A. King (Con.) 382 votes, Mr. Robert S. Hilton (Alliance) 371 votes. This seat will he re-contested again in 1983 for the full Council of approx. 62 members. The two elections will be held simultaneously for the Parish and South Oxfordshire District Councils.

The Catherine Wheel
THE CATHERINE WHEEL   SANDFORD-ON-THAMES

This is the last of the local artist, Don Edwards drawings of Sandford, and well worth collecting, they are still available from the P.O. shop. See how well you can colour or tint them.
YOUTH GROUP.
The youth club continues to do well, especially the junior section. We are planning several events for the future including a trip to the seaside, Cotswold wild life park, and a trip on the river for any parents and children in the village. Details from Mrs Slay.

We do hope to keep the club open during the summer school holidays this year, and we would welcome anybody who is interested to come along and give us a hand now and again We are shortly going to hold an open evening, when we hope you will all come and see what we get up to.

CARNIVAL DANCE
On Sat. 3rd. July in the Village Hall, 7-30 - 12-00 age 14 and over There will be a bar and snacks available, tickets will be on sale from Committee members soon, also a raffle on the night.
Entrants for this years CARNIVAL QUEEN WILL BE CHOSEN FROM SANDFORD or LITTLEMORE ONLY. Who will he crowned at the dance. Judges and prizes to announced later.

Plans for this year are in hand, but we would like more ideas for side stalls, if you have any please get in touch with any committee member now, the big day is SAT. 21st AUGUST.
