SANDFORD ON THAMES PARISH COUNCIL

Minutes of the meeting of the Parish Council held Monday 7th January 2008 7.00pm in the village hall.

Present:    Dr N Northcott
Ms M Robson
Mr M Hills
Mr K Welch
Mrs H Hutton
Mrs I Reveco
Mr S Paine
In attendance,   Cllrs J Howell,   P Tomlinson.   1 parishioner.

Approve and sign Minutes  prop M Robson,   sec. K Welch.

Matters arising
Fox Furlong - two playground firms were booked to give estimates.
A letter of thanks for proposed bus stop hard standing at Park Homes had been received from the resident's association.   The pedestrian ramp there was a success.
It was taking a long time for clerk to gather quotes etc. for insurance claim for vandalism in Church Road rec.

County Councillor's report
This was substantially covered by traffic calming item.
J Howell had replied to OCC bus subsidy survey substantially as had clerk, i.e. that no reduction in present service would be welcomed. There might be some changes due to tinkering with bus routes but it shouldn't affect Sandford.

District Councillor's report
A new system for making planning applications was in place - information was on SODC website.
A waste incinerator was planned but details of siting were not yet known.
It looked as though future waste collections would resemble existing ones with the addition of a weekly glass collection and food waste collection. Residual waste would be collected fortnightly.
Grundon would continue as contractor and SODC would combine with VWHDC for economy.

Matters for consideration
1px
dot Traffic calming: speed signs had been ordered and mini roundabout consultations started.
1px
dot Dog mess: The bin at the lock was now installed and no problems had been reported.
There had been a lot of dog fouling on the children's playing area at Broadhurst Gardens. This was unacceptable and it was considered that people irresponsible enough to allow their dogs to foul public spaces without picking up the faeces would be unlikely to use a bin. The parish council would organize a leaflet drop within the next few weeks if matters did not improve.

Planning
Nothing outstanding.

Income and expenditure   Prop. M.Robson,   sec. M.Hills.

Matters raised
M Robson reported that the children's Christmas party had been a great success with 52 children attending and 31 of those from Sandford.
There had been several incidents of vandalism, a burglary and an attempted arson over the holiday period.
BCB would be asked to trim back weeds on bank at Brick Kiln Lane next season.
Dog signs were now ready and I Reveco would drop them off with G Surman for re-installing as soon as possible

Items for agenda of next meeting
