SANDFORD ON THAMES PARISH COUNCIL
Minutes of the meeting of the Parish Council held on Monday 1st July 2002 at 7.00pm in the
Village Hall.

Matters arising

A copy of the SODC local plan had been received. Also a timetable for
new evening bus service. Clerk would write officially to thank Miss Sue Usher for her efforts in
this respect. New litter bins were now in place around the village. There were still ongoing
problems at Kiln Park, the owner had been given a list of 21 conditions to fulfil by November in
order to achieve Model Standards. In addition to the water and drainage much work was needed to
be done to the recreation area. Clerk was asked to write to SODC regarding slow progress. |

New councillor - following her expression of interest, it was unanimously agreed to co-opt
Pat Tuson from Kiln Close to the parish council. |

Jubilee sign and garden, time capsule - the sign had been made and just needed final
painting. Sign writer would collect master designs from clerk and copy them on to board.
They should be ready by the end of the month. Decision on time capsule was deferred
until suitable material for filling it had been collected. N Northcott had visited county local
history archive and was impressed and suggested that parishioners be asked to take any
relevant and/or interesting material there. |

Recreation / equipment - M D'Arcy reported that the Fox Furlong goalposts had been very
successful and additional posts had been requested at the Broadhurst Gardens recreation
ground. This was agreed, also that a quotation be sought for repairing the rubber safety
surface at the existing play equipment. A youth shelter if a suitable quotation could be
obtained. N Northcott would enquire. M Inston would liaise with M D'Arcy regarding the
goalposts supplier and a proposal would be brought to the next meeting. The Willow trees
at Broadhurst Gardens were growing into the recreation ground and N Northcott would
also enquire about an estimate for tidying these.
The six new tables for the hall had not yet been ordered, clerk would order 6 from Topline,
the supplier of the tables and chairs ordered for the toddler group. |
Planning N Northcott had noticed from a newspaper that there were proposals to develop
land at the south side of Grenoble Rd near the sewage works in the forthcoming Oxford City Draft
Local Plan. Clerk to write to City Council regarding their development plans for this area.

For information Complaints had been received about parking of a car and trailer on the
verge outside the village hall and clerk was asked to write to County Highways about this. Letters
had been sent in the past, also regarding the poor state of the pavement and road drainage adjacent
to 51 Henley Rd. but no reply had been received only an acknowledgment slip.
The bank overhanging the pavement in Church Rd also was very overgrown. Clerk would write to
Four Pillars requesting that it be attended to.
Clerk to write to Richard Dix, Oxon highways, regarding progress of mini roundabout at Henley
Rd / Brick Kiln Lane junction.
Clerk to write to District and County Councillors, also Councillors for adjacent City wards
requesting meeting regarding Kassam Stadium parking (lack of) in view of imminent start of
football season.

Clerk was unable to be present at next meeting, M D'Arcy would take notes for minutes.
