Apologies for absence - There were none
Minutes of meeting held April 30 2001 These had been posted on the parish notice boards prior
to the meeting and were agreed by the meeting and signed by the Chairman.
Matters arising - There were none
Chairman's report 2000- 2001 (Appended in full and summarised here)
Kassam Stadium this had dominated council discussion through the year and was still causing
problems, parish council was still pressing for improvements to traffic situation.
Village environment traffic calming in conjunction with junction improvements were being
considered and speedwatch monitoring was being carried out. Residents were requested to play
their part.
Village hall changes had been made to bookings system which were an improvement and also other
items had made improvements within the hall. Chairman thanked outgoing officers of the VHMC
for their hard work.
Fireworks displays were quieter now thanks to co-operation of Four Pillars
Police liaison Two policemen had attended last parish council meeting and it was hoped for more
police presence in the village.
Oral history 10 accounts had been archived and a brief history of the village distributed to all
residents.
Refuse collection caused little concern but changes were occurring. Residents were urged to write
to SODC with their views.
Millennium/Jubilee site at corner of Church and Henley Rd. Landscaping, sign and time capsule
being organised.
Recreation/play areas goal posts and a youth shelter have been erected.
Abandoned cars should be reported to SODC who will remove within 5-6 weeks of report
Appreciation N Northcott expressed his appreciation for the contribution of D Bloomfield, and
asked for a volunteer as the vacancy had not yet been filled. He thanked the council for its work
and welcomed villagers to meetings.

Statement of accounts 2000- 2001 (appended)
Before presenting the accounts, the clerk expressed the thanks of the parish council to Mr N.
McKisack who acted as the parish hon. auditor and who had agreed to act in future as the parish
internal auditor.
The accounts were presented by the Clerk and adopted by the meeting.
Matters raised by parishioners
M Hills thanked the Chairman and members of the parish council on behalf of the parish. He had
noted that Mr Robinson had done this in the past and wished to carry on the tradition.
It was noted that the village hall gate had been broken by a large towed trailer going to the Four
Pillars and turning in error.
Regarding the rubbish collection changes, a note would be put in the Link asking residents to
contact M. Roland Jones with their comments.
The pictures sketched for the new signpost were discussed and two chosen. Clerk would write to
the contractor stating our preference and requesting copywrite permission to use all the four
pictures e.g. for postcards.
