1. SCHEME COORDINATOR
"The Parish Council to place an article in 'The Link' and on the web site to recruit a scheme coordinator."
A request was included in the spring 2005 issue of The Link,
asking for support for this and other schemes.
The 'response' received however has been informative:
it seems that while many people are happy to 'keep an eye on a near-by neighbour' -
most are reluctant to move on offer more general help, even locally, in a more formal manner.
The original idea to 'recruit and train a coordinator'
may have give the impression that a lot of time and energy would be needed, and has perhaps put people off the scheme.
It could be that a smaller more informal scheme, might work better in our village.
The ORCC has some information similar schemes in other areas,
and has passed on some useful details, which is currently being considered.
The scheme was re-considered at the September 2006 meeting
of the Parish Council.
And again, independently, in the winter 2008 issue of The Link,
had a very encouraging article, and gave details of the OCVA
(Oxfordshire Community and voluntary Action) web site, who support such schemes.
2. SCHEME MEETING
"Once provided with some basic training, the
scheme coordinator to establish a working group and launch the scheme via a public meeting in the Village Hall."
Details and support will be worked out with any new scheme leader.
